This year, I didn’t expect much for Valentine’s Day. Not that I really ever do. We aren’t super mushy gooshy about this holiday. I grabbed Jordan a card from the grocery store while I grabbed some lunch for myself and was gonna call it a day. But when I got home, I received a sweet surprise! Jordan set up our tent in the basement! He put together a makeshift table with tons of fluffy pillows, battery tea lights in every pocket resembling stars, and plants galore! He set it up so the door was facing the TV. So we dined on our poke bowls (the only part I knew about) and watched movies all night snuggled together in the tent with the fur babies.
Funny enough, it got me thinking about trips I want to plan for us, and I just spent far too long on various sites looking up fun places to stay and interesting things to do.
This A-frame cabin is calling my name – HARD! Just look at that interior!
And can we just take a moment to appreciate this cave home in France… and guys… it’s only $90 per night to stay here!!!
We don’t have anything planned this year just yet. We typically would be going somewhere warm right about now, but with Tealy’s terminal diagnosis, we haven’t wanted to plan anything since we don’t know how much time we have left with her. Still though, it’s time for a mini trip somewhere soon for us. I’m thinking of booking a hotel really close in DC for one night and living it up. Maybe go to Spa World! We are also thinking of a standard beach vacation this year since we skipped it for our big Germany/Austria trip. Throw in some spontaneous weekend camping trips in the tent and you have our vacation plan for this year!
But I’m already planning our trip for around this same time next year. It’s a big one I’ve been wanting to do for awhile now. Ever since our Arizona honeymoon, I’ve become obsessed with the south west. So I would love to go somewhere totally new and do a road trip through New Mexico between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, hitting up all the hot springs along the way! (I’m also obsessed with hot springs.)
I’m planning to live it up BIG TIME at one certain resort called Ojo Caliente. I found it randomly somehow through Pinterest or IG one day, and I haven’t been able to quit it. It’s a historical resort on ancient tribal lands with mineral baths and a mud pool. Yup… I’m ALL IN!
I loved this blog post by Caroline on her blog, Unfancy, about her trip to New Mexico, Ojo Caliente, and how she packed for it. PS: she blogs alllll about experimenting with a minimal wardrobe and her style is on point! Worth a follow!
Sigh… I’m coming for you New Mexico! Just give me a year. Since I’m a chronic home-body, I should probably make the plans now and just commit to them or it will continue to be a day dream.
Now that I have all that wanderlust talk out of my system at the moment, here are some other random thoughts I’ve got going on in my head for you this Friday:
– President’s Day is this coming Monday. Meaning sales, sales, SALES! In my last post about the ceiling fans in our living room, Marie was sweet enough to drop some knowledge in the comments that builder.com is having a 20% off sale this weekend. So you could get the white fan I’m digging and save some dough in the process!
– We snagged this ceramic side table for our front porch. I can’t wait to get it out there and spruce up the space for spring.
– I always love a good candle. My sister-in-law got me these little cuties for Christmas and they were my favorite of all time! I think my favorite scent was Fig Leaf… or maybe Aloe Blossom… They are on sale for $14 for the medium tins currently, and $20 for the larger tins. I’m gonna snag some more myself before they are gone.
As always, have a great weekend folks!
